It has its historical roots in the advent of modernity and the church (which disliked drama in any form in the middle ages). There is nothing like one standard of acting. Indian actors overact for western and westernized Indians. Why is that worse than the western form of acting? Its just another form to be enjoyed. Look at the japanese films of yore - even the Kurusawa ones and you will find evidence of so called over-acting.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
