2018, my husband and I decided to exercise for the first time in our lives, by walking. As my sister suggested that walking uphill is healthier, we chose to walk a steep path nearby in Crowther's woods by the Loblaws shop. This steep path is unfortunately near a sewage cleaning plant. We walk here and distract our minds from the smell by focussing on the lovely flowers, trees & birds.
Today, May 22nd, we saw a few people coming from a spot and realized that there is one more path(Thomas Houser Memorial Trailhead). We took this path, new to us. We were so happy that we had found a path steep enough for us, but MINUS the sewage smell!
As we went down the path, we made another exciting discovery We found that the lower Don river flows by here also ! Below are a couple of photos of the Don river. The flow was pretty swift probably due to the rain we had last night.
The best part of today's walk however, was the lovely fragrance of the wild flowers. It was subtle but it was definitely there. I know I din't imagine it as my husband got it too.
After reading eloquent poems about flowers, their beauty, their fragrance, and so on, it was a pleasant experience to actually smell the flowers in the wild, how-so-ever-wispy it was.
Below is a plant spread in many places in Crowther woods. What I like about this plant below is that the leaves seem to float in air as the stems are not visible.
Below are several plants of one family, less than a foot high, spread in a few places. It had a lovely fragrance and round bud-like white flowers.
Below is a close-up of the plant above.
Below is the spread of another family of plants. It had flowers hidden under it's canopy of leaves.
Below is the flower of the plant in the photo above.
