What struck me the most about Mexico was the rich and bright colors everywhere. The buildings were painted in bright colors. The birds were bright and colourful. The graffiti and art on the walls were vivid and colourful. The flowers in the trees were colourful. The sky was blue, the sea was a lovely sea-green . The seaweed was a vivid red-maroon, contrasting with the white sands, blue sky and sea-green sea.
So also were the souvenirs I saw all around the places I travelled. I bought a few souvenirs wishing I could take all of them!
Below are several photos in no particular order.
The above embroidery reminded me of Rajasthani and Gujarati embroidery work of tribes from there.
The above are carved dried gourds I think.
The motifs on the souvenirs are based mostly on the following themes. (1)Day of the dead...all the skulls and bones in the textiles, ceramics and dolls. (2)Mayan mythology. (3)Birds, animals of this region such as Lizards, Jaguars, panthers, etc (4)sea-life such as whales, fish, sharks, etc.(5)Frida Kahlo. Maybe other themes too .
