The joys of discovery on Google

Once in a while, I Google-search for new books by my favorite authors and on rare occasions I come across a new book. Today I hit the jackpot and found not one, not two but three!

1)A new book in the Arkady Renko series by Martin Cruz Smith which will be out in November 2019 i.e. "The Siberian dilemma". ( I am fascinated by crime fiction set in Russia and Arkady Renko is one of my favorite crime fighting fictional characters)

2) I enjoyed the Lisbeth Salander series and discovered that not one but TWO  new books are out this year. One is a graphic novel (first time a graphic novel in the Lisbeth Salander series I think) called "The girl who danced with death" published on January 29, 2019. (NOT available in Toronto Public library)

3) The novel in the Lisbeth Salander series which will be out on 22 August 2019 is "The girl who lived twice".

I am feeling so pleased...waiting with a pleasant euphoria for the books to reach me!

Two weeks ago, I was going through a dry spell (both for crime novels and Netflix shows). Browsing through my collection, I discovered an untapped treasure at home. I came across a book by Lawrence Sanders which I had started (years ago) but not read as I didn't like it (then). I tried this book again and found that I really enjoyed it! It's  The tenth commandant featuring Joshua Biggs. I have enjoyed and liked many but not all of Sanders books in the past and it was such a wonderful experience coming across a book of his which I had not read before and enjoying it for the first time, now.

Camping at Bon Echo Provincial Park, August 3 - 5, 2019

Saw the cute jail house above at Tweed onway to Bon Echo, Provincial Park. It was no bigger than a car garage I think.

Saw these lovely Cardinal flowers on a hike at Bon Echo.
Below is the cliff, which makes the trip to Bon Echo worthwhile! We went in a ferry close to the cliff. There were rock climbers going up the cliff. Some folks were dropped off and picked up later. They explored the cliff by walking on top.We did not get off the ferry. We saw the cliff up-close and also saw the petroglyphs made by native Canadians on the walls of the cliff.

Above: reading Sara Paretsky's Tunnel vision on the banks of the Mazinaw lake. I loved sitting here in the shade of the trees, looking at the lovely lake, hearing a sweet family(grand-parents, parents, kids) laughing, chatting and swimming nearby.

This dead tree on the cliff above, is over 900 years old!

This is one of the petroglyphs on the cliff at Bon Echo. The native Canadians, would come by canoe, and paint, while sitting in their canoes. The Mazinaw lake is shallow at the beach and over 200 feet in depth near the cliff! And the distance between the beaches and the cliff is not much!

When I was in India, I never even dreamt, that one day, I would be in Canada, cooking on an agastige with coals like my grandmother did, in my village!

This is on of the best parks to visit from Toronto. It's 3.5 hours drive from Toronto. The beaches are lovely and safe even for toddlers. There's  rock climbing, boating, canoeing, fishing, camping, clean water in the lake, this amazing cliff, various hiking trails of different difficulty levels, a ferry to take you close to this  cliff and camping sites. It's the cliff which makes this park unique compared to the other parks in Ontario. We also passed several long narrow marshes and waters filled with thousands of lotus/lilies on the way to the park.
There were lots of mosquitoes and we had a mesh-cap on covering our faces and full sleeved shirts and full pants covering our skins. I really wonder how people were going around in short shorts and sleeveless tops, with those terrible mosquitoes around!
The weather was perfect...not too hot and humid, not cold (except at night) and thank God no rain!
