Went for a hike today (June 5, 2020)at Richmond hill's Oak Ridges Corridor, Bethesda Trailhead near Wilcox lake.
Above are 2 photos of one frog and below are 2 photos of another. They were both so well camoflaged and I spotted them only due to the rustle of leaves when they moved.
Due to lack of exercise and sitting at home (Covid lockdown), I tired easily on this hike! We kept looking for the swan lake but did not find it. This trail was also the first time we sort of got lost. This place did not have the route markings on trees like in all other trails we have hiked on. It was a nice hike however and one of the few times when we met NO ONE during the entire hike...except at the end of the trail at the parking lot. That amount of silence and privacy just 45 minute drive from Toronto is fantastic !
I saw a spot on this trail with soft sand which seems to indicate that there must have been a lake or some water body once. There were aspen trees here and saplings too growing nearby.
