October 11, 2021 Thanksgiving : trip to Baysville

Drove to Arrowhead Provincial Park Ontario, almost 300km away from my home.

Got turned away as we had 'not booked'. Was mad but nothing we could do. (We had tried to book but the website did not open up and we thought there was no need to book for this park. We tried Algonquin Park and the website said it was full up...but Arrowhead booking did not show up at all and we simply went)

So we went to Dorset a small town nearby. But it was really small think.

Then we drove to lovely Baysville, had beer at a brewery and roamed a bit.

Then we roamed around near the brewery. I would love to live here I think! It was quiet, a river flowed near by, wide roads, houses with a lot of space between and around them (unlike in Toronto, where the houses are too close to each other for my liking). I saw two lovely houses built of round river rocks!

We saw a few buildings with paintings of group of seven artists.(Not the one, immediately below)

All the buildings and photos below and most of the ones above are within a half km radius. Walking the wide streets, seeing these old buildings and the old fashioned fonts on the street signs and the shops (icecream shop, barber shop, etc) and not seeing the local people around...it was a weird feeling. It was like this place has been stuck in the 1950s while the rest of the world has moved forwards! It was such an eerie feeling! Probably because of the old-fashioned fonts, the absence of people, the wide, silent streets and this piece of land, which seemed so silent to me,  a person coming from bustling, crowded  Toronto and even more bustling, crowded India!
This whole area was like an unreal movie set...that's the phrase I was struggling to find. Movie set.

This cycle above is in memory of someone from Baysville.
