Arctic/Amazon:Network of global indigeneity -The power plant contemporary art gallery, October 2, 2022

Visited this lovely art work exhibits by indigenous artists from south America and north. today

I was not only amazed to see their vivid art work and amazing creativity, but was disturbed to read/see/hear through their art works (including films and dances) the extent to which their civilizations have been disturbed by white people in so many parts of the world such as  the Sami tribe of reindeer herders in the Scandinavian countries, in Brazil and Peru in south America and so on.

Above relatively naive art...

Above: hanging ropes used by the Sami tribe to rope the reindeer

The above art work consisting of threads in needles on wall reminded me of the minimalist works of art by a friend of mine, Prabhavathi Meppayil
