Durham Forest, Goodwin Ontario: October 8, 2022

Went to Durham Forest talk the trails and enjoy the fall colors.

The trees in the parking lot were so vividly colorful and we were excited that we would see magnificent colors so close home (Toronto) and there was no need to drive further up north.

But as we left the parking lot and walked the trail (maple trail) all we saw was a bit of yellow and tons of green. We did not see the vivid reds and oranges we had seen in the parking lot a few minutes ago!

In fact we had seen a lot more fall colours as we drove through the Don Valley parkway in Toronto than at Durham forest!

We did have a good time on the trails . We then visited the cute town Port Perry and enjoyed a nice lunch at Bamboo kitchen and bar and coffee at Nexus coffee co on queen street. We had a great time browsing in the lovely shops on queen street and the two used book stores. The ambiance in the Willow books store  was amazing! I went down the stairs and there was a ? store? studio selling crystal stones and other things. There was the most relaxing melodious music on and I thought I could sit here forever! Friendly staff too.

The other book store was Books galore which I also liked and spent very little time in as it was getting late.

Last we visited the Redman's antique barn and my husband picked up a wood carving tool there. Enjoyed browsing there and was reminded of the Lawrence antique market, in downtown Toronto which, sadly, no longer exists.

Below are photos from Port Perry.

Above: the Cree and English names of the animals and birds depicted in the 4 art works

I am not sure if the words Waabzheshii, Gwingwish, Ajiijaak and Adik are in Cree or Ojibwe.

Behind this building is lake Scugog. It is such a sad thing that this lake is unapproachable from the other side as it belongs to private people who have built huge houses by the lake and there is  no access to this lake from the other side.

Loved this distressed look green door above! Saw it on Queen street, in Port Perry.
