October 25 and 26, 2021: work, a novel and a show: what more can one want to be content?

It's been raining  for over 36 hours in Toronto...the skies are grey, the temperature is much warmer for this time of the year (Damn global warming!) and I am no mood to work.

Not much to hold my interest in netflix and tubi.com

I find the new movies and shows either too shallow, the humor too childish, the violence too much in all the places I watch i.e.  cable, netflix and tubi.

So I googled "American crime TV shows of 80s on youtube" and selected 'Father Dowling mysteries' .

 I loved it!

So this raining, grey day, I plan to spend my day between a bit of work, a bit of Father Dowling mysteries and 'The scarred woman' by Jussi Adler -Olsen (borrowed from Toronto public library). This combination is in some ways more relaxing, more fun and definitely less work than a beach vacation in sunny CanCun, Mexico!

...going to bed on 27th night after a day's work (it's been many days since I did 'a day's work') i.e. (assessment of two clients, a long walk carrying a heavy bag to the TTC, housework), I fell asleep quickly as I was tired and woke with a pleasant feeling of feeling refreshed and still a bit of tiredness.  It feels so good to experience this satisfaction of a a day spent working and a night of good sleep.

The inactivity, lack-of-work, work-from-home caused by Covid has lead to such massive indolence in my life and this in turn had impacted my sleep and quality of my waking hours.

The hard work I did  yesterday, (27th) has restored the nameless but valuable sense of well-being in my life. the satisfaction of doing something useful to others, the physical exercise of walking, the meeting with my colleagues and discussing work related issues provided a sense of meaning to my existence.

All these months, I had a vague sense of guilt about the pay cheque coming in without me working,  I was distressed daily by reading the effect of climate change on blameless animals in this world, I was disturbed by the tragedies striking both loved ones who lost lives to Covid and strangers....all these vague emotions were replaced by 'the order' which came into my life yesterday through the full day's work I did.
